Acts 20:7-12 (NIV)
Wow if you read this passage it\’s like the ultimate fail. The ultimate embarrassment and shameful situation well maybe not that bad but I find it very funny and sobering at the same time. It\’s amazing how this story relates to my relationship and I think many other believers. You have this dude that\’s sitting in a window. Okay first of all in a window a few stories up in the air? Come on now? They couldn\’t squeeze a little more room for one guy in the floor? Anyways this dude is sitting in the window while Paul is preaching the longest message ever cuz he is leaving in the morning. So it runs through the night and this dude sitting in the window starts to get sleepy. Not like head nodding but like deep rem type sleep and he falls out the window, not getting like a broken leg or like a smashed up face, but dead! Like no more life for you dead. Then Paul comes to the rescue and brings this guy back to life. Not like heals him but brings life back into his lifeless body. Can you imagine waking up and see all the people standing around you. How that would feel. It\’s not like you got attacked and fell out of the window you fell asleep. It\’s cool cuz Paul doesn\’t laugh or anything well atleast it doesn\’t say that. He just brings him back to life. Anyways I guess the point I am trying to make is that it\’s like sticking your hand in a fire. Your hand will burn. Fall asleep in a window you will fall out and prolly die. It\’s like a no brainer. Yet God treats us like Paul treated this dude. Everyday we desire death, we fall asleep in the window of life fall out, but we are caught by the net of Christ\’s blood before we hit the ground and die and he protects us from our stupid selves. I am a stupid man in a stupid window that can\’t keep his eyes open while I am being preached the most powerful message and yet Jesus is there to catch me when I fall. Wow. I suck. And he is great!
