Rip Tide Fantasy

The temptation of false realities plague my thoughts on a continual loop. There is no escaping their inviting allure. A break from responsibility or pain. Fantasy offers freedom from the enormity of reality. Reality is often much too big for my mind to handle.

My definition of fantasy is any bit of perception that is not anchored to an objective truth. Objective truth is much tricker to find and even harder to live by. Objective truth creates responsibility. It offers meaning and value-It gives pathways to wisdom and understanding.

Subjectivity is like walking into the ocean. For the first few hundred feet it’s manageable. But at some point the waves start to hit your face. Then you are floating in relative uncertainty for you are still able to see land. If you try to fight the rip tide you will die from exhaustion. If you continue to let it take you to sea. Soon you will lose sight of land and suffer disorientation, forgetting the direction of land. Your only hope Is that someone finds you and carries you back before the sharks devour you, turning you into one of them.

I urge you to swim sideways, out of the rip tide. Swim as hard as you can. Swim as fast as you can. Find others to help you swim. If you don’t the tide will take you to a place where you most certainly will not return. If you think this fantasy exists only in certain areas of thought, be warned. This devil distorts the reality of the food you eat and the things you wear. The devil prowls like a lion. The lion seeks to pull you into fantasy.

The slow progression of the fantasy is what makes it so dangerous. It appears to be so much like reality until it’s not. Camouflaged in the middle of partial truths. We often do not realize until all the objectivity has been removed. Partial truth has been as equally acceptable as only truth. The mind is so powerful and in the hands of the enemy is deadly.

Settle for nothing less than objective, hard, painful truth. Difficult in the moment but the result is that you will find you are still standing on the beach of truth while others are floating out of sight, over the horizon.
