Accepting Responsibility

I along with my girlfriend have just picked up a few books from the book store in the lines on devotionals, in order to consistently be in the word of God. I had bee doing okay for a while on my own reading but I was afraid that I was really just focused on myself and not the others around me. Especially this special someone. And then also my players, what good is my personal growth if I am not sharing and encouraging others to grow. It\’s become increasingly hard being away from my beloved guys group. If there is one thing that I miss more than anything it is Wednesday night man time. Not just any man time but man time with Two of my best friends.

Anyways to keep going on my previous rant, we went to the book store and I got a John Maxwell book because I am a leader of a team of guys and in am beginning the process of becoming a leader in a family. On top of that there has been some leadership issue arising on my team. What better way than to have a great Godly man encourage me on a daily basis and help me to encourage these guys.

Today I read about David in 1 Chronicles 21:17:

David said to God, \”Was it not I who ordered the fighting men to be counted? I am the one who has sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? O Lord my God, let your hand fall upon me and my family, but do not let this plague remain on your people.\”

David was a prime example of accepting responsibility for what he did wrong. Taking ownership no matter the cost. In order to be a Godly leader I need to do that! It\’s kinda ironic in a way but I almost see that statement of taking ownership and accepting responsibility as authenticity. It\’s just a fancy way of saying authenticity or a watered down version of it. The world says that in order to be an effective leader you must look just right, dress just right, talk just right, and never do anything wrong. And yeah if you want someone to lead you in the wrong direction yes that\’s who you should pick as your leader. But I want to be a Godly leader, one that says it is more important that the truth is told than I look good. Someone that puts their neck out for those that they care about. Someone authentic. God help me to accept responsibility and be authentic about you.
